About Us
Dojo
History
The Aikido of Jacksonville Dojo was
established by Perry Lambert, Renshi in 2000 to spread the teachings of
aikido to the Jacksonville, FL area.
On December 27th, 2011, Dr. H.T. Hamada,
Hanshi, International Chairman of the prestigious Japanese martial arts
organization, Dai Nippon Butoku Kai, bestowed the dojo name Shinzui Kan
Aikido Dojo to the Jacksonville dojo. Shinzui Kan means
Hall of Quintessence. This name was given to help create a new
chapter to the unending quest of reaching the quintessence of Aikido
spirit. The Forsyth dojo and the Richmond dojo have also become part
of the Shinzui Kan Aikido Dojo.
The Dai Nippon Butoku Kai is Japans most prestigious
martial arts society chaired by His Royal Highness Sosai, Higashifushimi
and it is located in Kyoto, Japan.
Instructor Bios
All of our instructors are members of the International Division of the
Dai Nippon Butoku Kai with credentials directly from Japan.
Dojo Cho (Chief Instructor)
Perry Lambert is the owner and Chief
Instructor of Shinzui Kan Aikido Honbu Dojo. He began his martial arts
training when he started college in 1986, studying Japanese Karate-Do at
the Old Dominion University Martial Arts Program headed by Dr. Hiroyuki Tesshin Hamada, Hanshi
- Chairman of the International Division of the
Dai Nippon Butoku Kai.
After graduating college Lambert spent many
years studying aikido and karate under various instructors. In 2005,
Lambert was honored to become a certified member of the Dai Nippon Butoku
Kai. The training opportunities and the instruction he has received
in various forms of budo from his first karate teacher, Hanshi Hamada, and
the various teachers of Dai Nippon Butoku Kai have had the most positive
influence on Lambert's understanding and practice of budo.
While Lambert holds the rank of Godan
and titles of Renshi
and Shihan from Dai Nippon Butoku Kai, his goal is to maintain
shoshin (beginner's mind) so he can continue his own learning process
and strive to become the best student and teacher he can be. He continues to study iaido at
So Budo Kai dojo in Jacksonville, FL, and
he recently re-started his study of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a white belt.
Assistant Instructors
Our assistant instructors help to improve
our students' skills by providing instruction focused on the execution of
strong, effective techniques in a safe manner. Students are not
judged by how they compare to others, rather, what is most important is
that they have a positive mindset, a sincere desire to learn, a humble
attitude, and a strong spirit. This is what will continue the
learning process over time, and what will overcome the challenges we all face
both inside and outside of the dojo.
